Hey, ive found a good condition VL for $1000, its a 1987 6cyl limited edition with the rear spoiler, but its had an engine change and the bloke selling it knows next to nothing about it, how can i tell if its an rb30? did all 6cyl VL's come out with rb30's? the bloke also said he thinks it might hav a turbo manifold on it ready for a turbo but is that what came out with the 1987 limited edition came out with? I want to turbo it and other mods but i dont want to find out ive bought a VL with not the right engine for the stuff i want to do, any help would be appreciated! cheers |

All VL's with 6 cylinders and turbo's were RB30's. Turbo engines were a8 block a longer engine with a few more parts making them stronger. a stock rb30 converted has a higher compression and can put out more power for a stock turbo setup but can boost more then 7 psi without problems happening to the engine. there are 2 series for rb30's but im sure 87 model and 88 model were series two and these had oil lines for the turbo and make a conversion a slap on job the 86 models needed oil lines drilled. $1000 is cheap look at it very closely but boot windscreen etc for rust. |
